3rd Grade
The third grade curriculum provides a mastery of language and writing mechanics leading to cursive writing, greater reading comprehension and fluidity, strong language mechanics, mastery of basic math and simple algebraic comprehension, exposure to the middle ages and Renaissance period of history, a deeper comprehension of key biblical themes, biology centered around the human body and earth science focused on minerals, rocks, and soil.

Gloria Thoburn, Head Teacher
Mrs. Thoburn obtained her Bachelors of Arts in K-12 and P.E. Education from Pacific Lutheran University. She began teaching in 1979 in the Los Angeles School District. After a move back to the Pacific Northwest, Mrs. Thoburn started teaching at FPCS in 1990 in a Pre-Kindergarten Class. Mrs. Thoburn has taught Pre-Kindergarten, P.E., Kindergarten, Spanish, the fourth and fifth grade split class, and now 3rd grade.
