1st Grade
Building on kindergarten curriculum, our first grade curriculum focuses on phonemic identification and reading strategies, basic English syntax, developing basic math concepts, basic earth science, introduction to ancient history within a biblical framework, early American key events and characters, and a more in-depth understanding of the Bible and the gospel message.

Mrs. Leach obtained her Bachelors of Arts in Education from Western Washington University. She taught 1st grade in the Tacoma Public Schools system at Lowell Elementary before joining the staff at First Presbyterian Church School. Mrs. Leach taught Jr. Kindergarten and a Beginners class in the preschool program. A passion for family ministry and early childhood literacy eventually lead her to teach 1st grade a FPCS beginning in 2003 where she continues today.
